From vines planted in the limestone, clay, schists and pebbles of the Côtes Catalanes region of Roussillon in the Frances's far south west, bordering with Spain. The Gauby wines have a truely unique character. Calcinaires is a blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. On paper this looks to be a heavy wine, but Gauby produce a relatively light and elegant red using whole bunch maceration, with wild yeasts in concrete tanks. Biodynamic farming practiced.
