Sourced from a vineyard on the eastern slope of Mount Camel that’s noted for its red colour and productivity, but in fact comes from a shallower patch that only produces modestly at the best of times. Hand picked and destemmed, 21 days on skins. Matured in French oak (Bordeaux coopered, 20% new) for 14 months. It includes 3% shiraz ex the same vineyard. This is a strikingly different style to its shiraz siblings, with sweet cassis fruit, cedary oak and polished tannins. Drink this and cellar those shiraz releases. James Halliday 95 Points
